In a return to Star Trek’s classic style of storytelling, “An Obol for Charon” mixes mystery and emotion with a bit of fun. While some of the season’s threads get a tug, a new development takes center stage and uses an intriguing science fiction element to deliver a wealth of character development and set up a moving moment between Michael Burnham and Saru.
In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Patrick Devlin discuss the theme of legacies that weaves its way through each aspects of the story, from the ancient sphere to Saru to the mysterious May. We also explore how the pairings of Saru and Burnham as well as Tilly and Stamets lead to greater character depth and surface the true empathy these individuals feel for one another.
