Submit ReviewAn extra $50 billion over the next decade on defence is the headline figure of the government's national defence strategy and integrated investment program. There's more money for long-range missiles- and a focus on long term capability including the AUKUS nuclear submarines.
Richard Marles, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister says that the government isn't "shying away" from vulnerabilities in the Defence force, and to protect ourselves from coercion he says we need the "ability to project". The Defence Minister says that's the ability the government is trying to build through the new strategy.
