William Strauss and Neil Howe | Generations | Book Review by Lisa Woodruff

Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 2069 (Amazon affiliate link) helped me get clarity and articulate thoughts I had when I was doing in-home professional organizing. The authors look at how generations repeat in archetypes and in dominant/recessive patterns. 

This book allowed me to understand how each generation and their influences have shaped the people around us. It crystallized my thinking about who we are in the world and how we interact with each other.

Strauss and Howe expose the patterns of dominant and recessive generations and help me to understand why people of alternating generations seems to understand each other better than in typical parent/child generational relationships. I have also been able to apply some of the generational characteristics and thinking to decluttering and organization - I share a little bit of that insight today.
