He won silver at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games running his 2nd ever marathon. Fast forward 4 years to 2014 at Glasgow, Michael became the Commonwealth Games marathon champion and in 2018 at the Gold Coast he defended his Commonwealth Games title to be a coveted dual Commonwealth Games marathon champion.
Michael boasted career bests across his running career of 2:11:5 in the marathon, 1:01:27 for the half marathon, 27:59 across 10,000m and 13:38 across 5,000m, he started his career middle distance with a 3:39 across the 1500m.
