Chuck Norris stretches his acting muscles to play Chuck Norris, Joe Piscopo devours the scenery as an evil Karate instructor, and Beau Bridges essentially reprises his role from The Wizard as the token single dad, in 1992's Sidekicks-- a martial-arts-themed family film that makes The Karate Kid look like... well, like someone took the script for The Karate Kid and awkwardly inserted Chuck Norris into it. We also get some good work from the late Jonathan Brandis, whose career certainly made an indelible impression on anyone growing up in the early '90s, and the delightful Danica McKellar (Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years, currently an author of math texts and recently a guest on the Nerdist Podcast). Does Sidekicks metaphorically destroy a flaming stack of bricks with its awesomeness, or is it now pathetically dated?
