The Original Series in Discovery Season 2, Part 1.
In the final scene of Discovery's first season, the U.S.S. Enterprise appeared and set Star Trek fandom on fire with anticipation for what that meant for the new series' sophomore year. What followed was Christopher Pike becoming the captain of the U.S.S. Discovery, spending half a season on the search for Spock, and some...convoluted explanations to attempt make everything fit with established canon.
This week on Standard Orbit, host Zach Moore is joined by co-creator and former co-host of Primitive Culture Tony Black to discuss what worked and what didn't about making Discovery's second season such a direct prequel to The Original Series. Does Spock having a secret sister pay off in any way? What did we think about the new bridge of the Enterprise? Can Star Trek continue to thrive by continuing to look backward? All this and more on this week's Standard Orbit, boldly listen!
