On this episode, we feature Rian Doris who is the co founder and the Chief Operating Officer at the Flow Research collective, an organisation he co founded along with New York Times bestselling author of “Stealing Fire and the Rise of Superman”, Steven Kotler.  

Rian holds an Honours in philosophy from the Trinity College, Dublin and is currently working through a Master's in Applied Neuroscience from King's College in London. Rian has led research initiatives with Imperial College London, UCLA, Deloitte and has worked with multiple Fortune 100 companies implementing peak performance strategies in a consulting capacity.  Rian has also led research across a number of research initiatives with Dr Dan Siegel, Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA, along with research initiatives across the Imperial College of London, the University of Southern California, the University of Zurich, and Claremont Graduate University, and with the listenership of this show being made up of people performing and seeking their best performance.

During this episode, Rian shares around this concept of flow. We've all heard of it, but what does it actually mean? And is it possible to manipulate our environment to boost the likelihood of entering into that magical flow state. Rian shares around the characteristics of non ordinary states of consciousness, the concept of flow triggers, the neurobiology, neuro chemistry and neuro physiologically of what's happening when we are in a flow state, and why researchers have suggested that a 4% difference between challenge and skills is optimal for producing flow.
