It’s been two years since the National Farmers' Union gathering last took place face to face. We're at the ICC in Birmingham to hear what issues farmers are facing. In her opening speech, NFU President Minette Batters addressed these issues, from the 200% increase in the price of fertiliser to the crisis in the pig sector, which has seen 40 thousand pigs culled on farm and the meat wasted. DEFRA Secretary George Eustice took to the stage to lay out more details about how future farm payments will work, but was grilled on the ongoing pig crisis. Meanwhile the Shadow DEFRA Secretary, Jim McMahon, told the conference the Government doesn’t seem to have an overarching plan when it comes to food production and land use. Presented by Anna Hill Produced for BBC Audio by Heather Simons
