In this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is joined by the artist, and good friend, Kevin Spencer (find more from Kevin here!), and are geeking out over Wolfen (1981) and confusion about the plot wolf gods/spirits Edward James Olmos' package gritty realism and much, much more! Synopsis: A brash Manhattan industrialist, his coke-binging wife, and a slum wino have something in common… they’re the latest victims in a series of seemingly motiveless murders. Detective Dewey Wilson, fed up with by-the-book police procedure, begins to investigate supernatural causes for the killings… and discovers something that can hear the blink of an eye… and rip the scream from your throat! Directed by Michael Wadleigh, Wolfen packs four kinds of movie thrills into its brisk 114 minutes… It shocks with a monstrous evil that’s new, but still delivers the horror genre’s age-old requirement of out-and-out scariness… Intrigues with clue-by-clue sleuthing that gradually unearths who- (or what-) dunit… Dazzles with camerawork that gives a loping, gliding, creature’s eye view of a survival-of-the-fittest world… And jolts with a searing outcry against what may be the greatest terror of all: humankind’s ecological abuses! Wolfen is a full-fanged, full-throttle horror ride! ..........................................................................................................................
