"The Therapist Who Moves You,” Erica Hornthal, is a licensed clinical professional counselor and board-certified dance and movement therapist. She is the founder and CEO of Chicago Dance Therapy and creator of the Dancy Therapy Advocates Summit.
Erica specializes in working with older adults, families, and caregivers who are
touched by dementia, movement, and cognitive disorders. She utilizes a somatic approach to engage her clients regardless of cognitive and physical ability.
According to Erica, when we talk about movement, most of us think of "exercise." But the way we move our bodies, how we walk, roll, dance, stretch, connect, and take up space, is about so much more than physical fitness. Our movements impact our mental and emotional health, and when we change the way we move, we can change the way we live. I sat down with Erica recently to discuss her new book, Body Aware.
