Submit Review17 years ago the Chicago White Sox swept the Houston Astros and won the World Series. 2005 was an unbelievable regular season for the White Sox. They won 99 games and won their first division title since 2000. Although it was an exciting six months of baseball, it was nothing compared to the postseason. The White Sox went (11-1) in playoffs and captured their first championship since 1917. The Sox made serious changes after the 2004 season. They parted ways with fan favorites Carlos Lee and Magglio Ordonez while replacing them with Scott Podsednik and Jermaine Dye then bringing in catcher AJ Pierzynski. Ozzie Guillen was in his 2nd season of his first managerial job and he led the overachieving White Sox to an unforgettable season. Oct. 26th will also be a time to reflect on the magic of that 2005 season and hope for similar moments return to the South Side.
