Kes is a photographer. His dad, Arthur Eccleston, edited The Black Voice: a Brent-based black activist newspaper in the 70s and 80s. Kes has all of his dad’s old newspapers, and there’s something in this archive of activist history that feels important. Kes speaks to activists, journalists and artists about how we document and archive our social justice movements, and why it matters that we do.

Follow Kes on Instagram @mellozwrld to see his photography.

VENT Documentaries are produced by Jess Lawson and Arlie Adlington, with help from Emilia Gill, Moeed Majeed and Kamiah Chae.
