Submit ReviewA lot of singing has to do with your mindset going into it. It’s not just physical. It’s also mental, along with physiological aspects. Whether it's live on stage or in the recording studio, The voice is not for internal use. It's for external use, or as today’s guest Judy Rodman likes to say, “The Dance of the Melody.”
In this episode, we discuss those aspects, along with the understanding that either on stage or recorded music, it's up to you to make sure you don’t steal the lyrics from your listener when your music is being played or performed. We also talk about microphone technique, both on the stage and in the studio.
Judy Rodman is a busy professional vocal coach, recording studio producer, and songwriter and continuing her recording session singing and live performances. Her trademarked vocal training method is called "Power, Path, and Performance." In the mid-1980s, she was a successful recording artist, making it all the way to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1986 with the song "Until I Met You." She also won the Academy of Country Music's "Top New Female Vocalist" award in 1985. She backed Country stars Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, and more. She also sang back up for legendary Blues performer Ray Charles.
She’s also a successful songwriter, penning such hits, including LeAnn Rimes's number-one hit "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)" (co-written with Keith Hinton).
