What is kinship care? How is it the same and different from foster care? In today's episode, Michelle Thompson, founder of Bithiah's Family Services, talks about the unique experience of kinship care, what families need, and how we can best support them. Michelle is a credentialed teacher, author, and Co-Founder of Bithiah's Family Services. Specializing in supporting teachers to create empathetic, graced-based classrooms , Michelle trains educators across districts to educate students through a trauma informed lens. Michelle and her husband started Bithiah's as a residential treatment facility providing services to children in the foster care system and continue to expand the services and support it provides to vulnerable children and those that provide care to them.
