Scott Thwaites is at the Vuelta a España as part of one of the most successful Grand Tour teams, Alpecin-Fenix. But it's something of a miracle that he's here at all, after a crash in 2018 left him with a broken spine, neck, ribs and sternum. He raced domestically in the UK in 2019 before returning to the big time last year.
