Ian asks Adam about his new boss, Christian. Adam declares him down to earth, and eager to learn more about farming. But is he prepared to listen, presses Ian. Eventually he squeezes out of Adam that Christian is a bit too hands-on and doesn’t always follow expert advice – probably the reason the previous manager left. And Adam is now seen by the other staff as part of the team that ousted their mate. But he’s sure it won’t always stay like this. However, on Ian’s prompting, Adam spots several missed messages from Christian, who wants him in on Saturday to discuss a new tractor. Ian thinks this is beyond the pale – it’s as bad as Home Farm was! Determined to find a solution that works, he suggests they might move closer to Danforth Barton Farm. Chris and Martha have made a welcome home banner for Alice. Alice holds Martha tentatively, caught by how much she’s grown, and how much she’s missed. As Chris enthuses about her having more moments with Martha now, Alice warns him that every day is still a struggle for her. After dinner Chris gives Alice a memory box full of little snippets of Martha. Alice is moved by a drawing Chris has done. She can’t believe he could still do something like this for her after what she’s done. Chris asserts she’s different now. He wants her to move back home. But Alice won’t. She has to recover on her own, and she can’t be with Chris any more.
