Ocean's Eleven. Running Time: 42 minutes 49 seconds Six years before writing the first episode of Star Trek ("The Man Trap"), George Clayton Johnson was part of the team that helped to bring the original Ocean's Eleven to the big screen. Lewis Milestone's Rat Pack movie, starring Frank Sinatra, spawned a remake in 2001. That remake, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney. That remake led to two sequels, as well as Ocean's Ocho, an upcoming film directed by Gary Ross and starring Sandra Bullock. In this episode of Stage Nine, John and Mike continue their fiftieth anniversary celebration of Star Trek by looking at the other franchise that Johnson originated. We discuss the problems with the original, how the remake fixed them, whether or not the sequels are any good, and what we can expect to see in the spinoff. In news, we discuss the hiring of David Mack and Mike Johnson to help in the creation of a Discovery expanded universe.
