Do you think the LGBT community is authentically portrayed in modern media - both from a quality representation standpoint, and in quantity of characters and storylines?

In this episode, we talk about what authentic representation means to us. Is more representation always good representation, even if the characters are not well written and don't make you feel seen? Is there "too much" gay portrayal in some pieces of media today to try to right the wrong of not properly including or portraying queer folks in the past? Can extreme or shock value media be considered "good" representation?

We discuss our thoughts around this topic using the recent examples of Billy Eichner's "Bros" movie, and the Netflix series "The Sandman" - both of which portrayed a wide spectrum of gay characters and storylines... but were they done well to represent this community as real, relatable people?

What do you think about the state of modern media representation of the LGBT community? What piece of media has made you feel most seen? Let us know in the comments on our social media!
