It seems that nowadays, a new conference or workshop for the wedding industry pops up every week. And if you've been in the industry for any period of time, you might be thinking that you could profit by sharing your years of experience with others, but putting together a conference may not be as easy as you think. In this week's episode of the This Week In Weddings podcast, we're chatting with husband and wife photography duo Brittani and Jon Hon, who host the Hustle + Flow workshop. They're not only sharing their story, but also telling the no holds barred truth about creating a workshop from scratch.

About our guests:

Brittani and Jon have been photographing weddings in Florida + NYC since 2012. Their average amount of weddings each year were 75-120 weddings + engagements. In 2016, after hitting the 500 mark, they decided to start a workshop teaching photographers how to not suck at business. That's when Hustle + Flow was born. It's a real talk, NO BS approach that gets down into the nitty gritty about strategies, advertising and branding.

Since the first workshop in November of 2016, they have traveled all over the country going to different cities with 50-100 attendees in each state. So far, they have done 17 workshops in 2.5 years. They also have an online waitlist of 16,000 people who are eagerly waiting for online courses to be launched. Balancing between being wedding photographers + workshop educators, they are also parents to a little girl named Pepper. Residing in Orlando, FL and still manage to have free time for many Disney days.

In this episode, listeners will hear about:

  • Brittani and Jon's background and how they got into the wedding industry
  • The circumstances that led Brittani and Jon to put together a workshop
  • How Brittany and Jon came up with the content for their workshop
  • How they have grown their workshop to multiple cities and created a strong community of attendees
  • The emotional aspects of working with conference attendees
