The November 8th midterm elections are described by many as one of the most “consequential elections,” in American history!
The bedrock of American Democracy, is no doubt the right to vote, that essential right to vote is now encumbered by new voter ID and absentee laws enacted in many states, across the nation. -----

Social justice activist Reverend Darryl Gregory Gray, cohosted a lively, informative discussion on new voting laws in the red state of Missouri. ------

Our panel included former Greendale mayor Monica M. Huddleston, of the St. Louis Area Voting Initiative aka SLAVI, Missouri State Senator Brian Williams and Attorney Jerry Hunter, Republican Chairman of the Stlouis City Board of Elections Commission. -----

Our distinguished panel agreed that voter education, in preparation for the midterm elections, is essential now more than ever, with so much at stake. ------

Massive voter registration and education efforts are happening across the country including Missouri, in response to the new voting laws designed to make voting more difficult for minority groups. ------

The new voter ID requirements are likely to impact seniors citizens, many of whom no longer have drivers licenses, will now be required to obtain state identification cards. ------

This episode of Tangazo will help prepare you for voting, in the critical upcoming November elections, which are as described earlier, one of the most “consequential elections in the history of this country!” ------

This is a really good episode of Tangazo that reflects our serious concern, about protecting our rights to vote which is the foundation of our democracy. -----

This episode of Tangazo also demonstrates African American participation in the most important aspect of our democracy, including helping to shape the voting laws and are challenging the laws, as in the case of Missouri State Senator Brian Williams and social justice activist Reverend Darryl Gregory Gray.
Implementation of the laws as in the case of Attorney Jerry Hunter, chairman of the Board of Elections Commission in St. Louis city and educating the black community on the new voting laws, as in Monica Huddleston and SLAVI, the organization she represents. -----

Incidentally Monica wants me to remind you that, where as it once was common practice for African Americans to move to St. Louis county, while continuing to vote in their old neighborhoods in the city, It’s risky business now that could result in severe penalties.-----
