Lionel Birnie heads to bend number seven on Alpe d'Huez to experience the atmosphere of Dutch Corner. However, because of safety and security concerns, the Tour de France organisers and police had taken steps to control the size and behaviour of the crowd, restricting the amount of alcohol available and leading to a less fervent atmosphere than in past years.
