16 years ago today, a musical revolution began. Unusually, however, the event that kicked it off didn't take place on stage or in a recording studio, but in an auditorium in Cupertino, California. Steve Jobs, roll-neck and all, unveiled the very first Apple iPod, and the way we consume music was changed forever.

This week, we're going back to those heady days when your iPod was your everything. When cover flows mattered more to us than grades at school. When those white headphone wires marked you out from the crowd. These are our MP3 years, and we've got the tunes to prove it.
