Choosing wedding vendors, the people and businesses that you pay to help shape the wedding of your imagination into reality, is tricky business. Do you like them? Are they within your budget? Do they have strong opinions on your sexual orientation and who you are marrying? Wait a second…what? Is that their business? What the hell happened to equality? Can you imagine meeting a wedding vendor and them refusing to serve you because of who you are marrying? Today’s special Save The Date Wedding Podcast guest is Olympian, Blake Skjellerup. As well as representing his country (New Zealand) at the winter Olympics, Blake is an ambassador for the gay games AND he’s getting hitched! WOOT! As one of the very few professional males athletes to come out whilst competing, Blake has become a reluctant (but impressively confident) spokesperson for the gay community… Now, with his impending nuptials to his partner Saul Carrasco (Carrasco is a fashion stylist and blogger for Trend Styled), Blake has written a number of pieces for Huff Post about planning their wedding and outing vendors who actively discriminate against LGBT clients.
