Pat Flynn of The Smart Passive Income leads. People follow him. People listen to him. Millions of people. He’s not a politician, movie star, or news anchor. He’s like you or me. Maybe a little funnier. And paradoxically maybe a little more sincere.  Six years ago in the 2009 recession, he was laid off as a senior draftsman in an architectural firm. He looked for a job, could not find one, then using only what he knew, and created a successful online business. Very successful, he makes over $100,000 per month through his podcasting, blog, and other online endeavors. After a year, he began writing and then podcasting about his and others’ experiences building online businesses. His podcast is called Smart Passive Income. This year, thousands of his peers voted Smart Passive Income the world’s #1 business podcast.  I think it’s because he helps people to transform their online business I hope you listen to this because Pat transformed himself, to the top of his industry, from a place similar to where you may be today, and the path that he did so is one that can be followed. He makes sure of that. The real reason for Pat’s success of course is because he is an immigrant entrepreneur! During the interview, Pat shares about: His parents and what he learned from them The Filipino/American culture How he transformed himself from shy kid to outgoing marching band-leader Going through college, Finding his first job, Losing his job, and take what he learned to create a product for architects Writing about learning from his mistakes and success creating an online course How he stands out in a crowded field The value of Masterminds His immigrant perspective What he learned from Philippine culture. How he’s trying to challenge his son His thoughts on how to help entrepreneurship in the Philippines I hope you visit Pat Flynn’s website at http://smartpassiveincome.com, because there you will discover why his podcast is rated #1, why his blog was so widely read before he began a podcast, and you’ll discover so many resources helpful to your business.  Pat’s core testimony is about an innate desire to serve others, and a recognition that others want to help you.  There is a pattern of success here shown my other immigrant entrepreneurs. Hiten Shah in episode 37 shared deeply about this desire to help which he learned from his father at a very early age, and how it impacted his life.  And Carmen Feliciano in episode 11, started http://www.kendii.com/ to encourage tens of thousands of Filipinos to write and read. Carmen’s advice also is to ask for help. It makes for a richer, more interactive life. I attended a conference this summer, for the sole reason to ask Pat on The Immigrant Entrepreneur, explaining that it would help so many to look to his path. It resonated with him, and without hesitation he agreed. I ask for help, literally every day. Listeners, I would love to get your feedback at The Immigrant Entrepreneur website. Also please write to me at theimmigrantentrepreneur@outlook.com. I’d like to know what you are looking to accomplish in your life.  Also, you may join a community of aspiring entrepreneurs from around the world at www.facebook.com/groups/TheImmigrantEntrepreneur/
