Some are quite convinced that Silicon Valley was born through the emergence of psychedelic drugs in the late 1950s. Icons like Steve Jobs credit LSD for massive shifts in creativity and perspective. After reaching a crescendo in the mid-60s, most psychedelics were made illegal this time of year in 1968. Psychedelics have since had a renaissance in the tech community, and more importantly, in the space of mental health. What the psychiatric establishment dubbed “ wonder drugs” for most of the 1950s and early 1060s, MDMA is finally back on the path to reach approval for therapeutic use by the FDA as soon as 2023, with psilocybin a year or two after that. The nation’s top universities are now scrambling to set up psychedelic research centers, and millions of dollars in early-stage capital is being allocated to the space. After a long and complex road of decriminalizing cannabis in much of the United States, areas are now starting to follow such a path with psilocybin. The following is a first-hand account of a psilocybin journey by the podcast host, Elijah Szasz, as he unpacks the experience with his business partner Eric Colbert. ::For links and show notes, please visit our site:https://www.spark6.com/podcastIf you enjoy the podcast, we’d be endlessly grateful if you left a short review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes.
