This interview - Part 2 with Steli Efti - can change your life. Sometimes, if you didn’t finish college or didn’t finish high school, like our returning guest, Steli Efti, you are intellectually – more hungry, you are more humble, more curious, more vulnerable.  You don’t think that you know it all.  And if somebody rejects you – you may feel negative for a while, but if the God of intellectual humility is with you, you might be lucky enough to say…. I need to learn more, study harder, ask more questions to others, and try again. If you have that entheos, that Greek word, at the root of our word ‘enthusiasm’, then you may persevere, and finally win. Besides being a successful Silicon Valley entrepeneur, Steli is a passionate learner and a talented teacher. You can hear him and his friend at their business podcast THE STARTUP CHAT.  You will subscribe to it, because you won't want to miss any episodes.   In Part 1, we learned about Steli Efti, a Greek-German on his journey to America. How he figured out the need and met that need - to become the internal sales force for venture backed tech companies. How he transformed that into a SaaS (software-as-a-service) company, called Close.io, which helps internal sales-people do their job better. In Part 2, I return to Steli, to delve into his journey – how he finally gained entrance into Y Combinator under the legendary Paul Grahm, and how that changed his trajectory. Steli speaks to the struggling entrepreneur who has tried and failed. He shares the secret sauce, the advantages he has being born Greek, and growing up in Germany. I asked him about the biggest mindset change, the biggest epiphany that has transformed him. His answer can change your life today – because it has changed Steli’s life, and really the lives of those he works with. Lastly I’ve been asking these successful immigrant entrepreneurs about how to build a better environment for entrepreneurs, back in their home country, in this case I asked about Greece. Because Steli, had recently been back in Greece speaking to groups of enterprising individuals there, he was ready to give some precise and compelling ideas.
