Article from the Sunday Mail Newspaper on 17th March 1996 “One of Scotland's brightest young footballing prospects was fighting for his life last night after a horrific attack. The Celtic youth player was rushed to hospital in Edinburgh after being viciously attacked in his own home. And his injuries are so severe, Parkhead club personnel admit they are praying the lad lives. He has been given the last rites. Last night Celtic youth team boss Willie McStay was too upset to go into detail about the savage assault. He said "Let's just hope to God he pulls through."
