Submit ReviewIn 1987, Singapore's first Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew conceptualized a freshwater dam to be built across the Marina Channel. 21 years later, on 31st October 2008, Singapore's 15th reservoir was opened.
The 350m long dam serves 3 purposes - water storage, flood control, and recreation. It took a year and a half for the seawater to be replaced by rainwater.
